What life do you build?

What do you select of the building blocks that life has given to you, and what do you build of them? I recently visited the LEGO House in Billund, Denmark, and the mind-blowing creativity that I have seen there made me think.

Although LEGO provides varied building blocks, the number of type of blocks are finite. But what you can create of those finite building blocks with your imagination, planning, skill, determination, execution, and patience is infinite.

Similar to life. Life provides us with finite building blocks: we are born into a certain country, city, area, culture, type of family, and we are given a personality type, general interests, and talents. But the variety of life journeys that we can build of these finite building blocks is infinite. How you use your personal background, skills and talent comes down to your individual plans, decisions, and actions.

You have plans, you try to execute them by creating a strategy. If they work out, great, if not, you change your strategy, the elements you use, and try to reach your goals in another way. You make countless decisions, and based on the outcome, you see, if the decisions you made took you where you wanted to be, or if you need to step back, and take another direction. The life journeys that we can create of the same building blocks are as challenging, yet beautiful and unique as the artwork that can be created from LEGO.

I wish you a lot of fun, while you are playing the game of life. I wish you to build a life journey that you can look back from your deathbed, and say: „Yes, it was not perfect, it was full of mistakes, detours, and challenges, but it still was fulfilling, elevating, and beautiful. Playing the game of life was worth it.”
